Are you concerned that our local NHS could be overwhelmed by housing developments in Trull/ Comeytrowe and the surrounding areas?

Support Dawn Johnson’s campaign for a new doctors’ surgery

Over the last year and during Covid-19 we have all come to appreciate and rely on the role that our NHS and front line services play in our everyday lives - protecting us all in our hour of need.

With 2,000 additional houses being built in Trull/Comeytrowe and a further 1,600 planned for Staplegrove, approximately 11,000 more people could be living in the West Taunton are as a result. Their needs for proper healthcare alongside those of existing residents must be addressed.

Somerset has 65 GP practices, split across 13 Primary Care Networks, supporting a population of approximately 560,000, an average of 8500 patients per practice – please see more at: https://www.somersetccg.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Encl-F-GP-Premises-Update.pdf

With up to 11,000 more residents requiring access to GP services in the Taunton area, and the current surgery average of 8500 patients per surgery across the County, it is clear new facilities are required to service resident needs.

After consulting with GPs, specialists and residents in the area, we are asking residents sign this petition to show the developers, the district and county councils and Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group that action is needed to increase access to general practice in this community with either a new surgery or new facilities to prevent the current services being overwhelmed.
