SAVE OUR SCHOOLS
Our local state schools are struggling to provide the kind of education to which all children should be entitled. Cuts to pupil funding and resources have resulted in a narrowed curriculum and larger class sizes. In some schools, in addition to their role as educators, teachers are also taking on the roles of school cleaner, caretaker and canteen assistant. Children deserve better and teachers need the resources to do their job properly. They need our support now!
A report from the Education Policy Institute (EPI) published earlier this year indicated that school funding remains a major issue in 2019. Some of the concerns are:·
-
Since 2014 the number of schools in deficit has gone up from just 8 to 30%. See https://epi.org.uk/publications-and-research/school-revenue-balances/
-
Class sizes are rising and the curriculum offered is being restricted.
-
The most vulnerable students in our schools - those from disadvantaged backgrounds or with special educational needs are bearing the brunt of the cuts, and schools are struggling to provide the level of support to which all pupils are entitled.

Local and central Conservative government are not listening! We demand better for our children’s future.
