SIR ED DAVEY VISITS PRITEX


Sir Ed Davey MP, interim leader of the Leader Democrats was at leading local manufacturer Pritex in Wellington this week (Friday 10th Jan), on a visit organised by LibDem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Taunton Deane Gideon Amos and hosted by the firm’s Managing Director Gareth Jones.

They were joined by Somerset West & Taunton Leader, Federica Smith-Roberts and local councillor, Mark Lithgow.

They were joined by Somerset West & Taunton Leader, Federica Smith-Roberts and local councillor, Mark Lithgow. 

Pritex is a manufacturer of acoustic and thermo-acoustic insulation products for diverse applications in the automotive, industrial and comfort sectors, employs over 200 people. 

Sir Ed Davey said after the visit: '' It's important that we seek to protect key jobs in local industry as we prepare for Brexit. Pritex is an example of a terrific employer that provides important work.'' 

Gideon Amos added “The kind of business exchange, mobile workforce and free trade that companies like Pritex currently enjoy need to be maintained and protected as much as possible in the coming months and years so that Pritex and its workforce can thrive and grow”.

Gareth Jones commented “It was a pleasure to show the major investment at Pritex and in particular the new Laboratory facility that is nearing completion. Going forward, as a company who exports products to the Europe it is essential that the new deal being negotiated with the EU delivers free and frictionless trade to support our growth and innovation.”

Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts also added ‘‘It was great to show Ed Davey MP a brilliant international business based in Wellington and demonstrates the many valuable opportunities that are available within our wonderful area for all the different sectors who want to not only base but look to grow their business here.’’

Sir Ed later was later guest-speaker at the Annual Taunton Deane Liberal Democrat Dinner at Somerset County Cricket Club where he spoke on the importance of reuniting the county after Brexit and how the Liberal Democrats can progress. They were also joined by Leader of South Somerset Council, Val Keitch.
