The right to peaceful protest is a fundamental part of any functioning democracy.

That is why we are greatly concerned by the Conservative Government’s attempt to limit our right to peaceful protest in the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill 2021.

The police already have extensive powers to limit peaceful protest. They do not require more extensive powers which may reduce an individual’s right to free speech.

The bill is designed to give more powers to the police in England and Wales to crackdown on so-called static protests.

Picture was taken pre-Covid

The bill has already passed the first round in Parliament but it's not too late to stop it.

We are calling on Taunton Deane MP, Rebecca Pow, to vote against this bill progressing any further.
