Jeremy Browne – the former Liberal Democrat MP for Taunton Deane – was back in his old constituency at the weekend.

Mr Browne, now working for an international trade body, was supporting Gideon Amos, the local Lib Dem candidate in the next General Election.

He attended a fund-raising dinner in Taunton on Friday night and then joined Mr Amos on Saturday to meet voters at Creech St Michael Village Hall.

Mr Browne was MP for Taunton Deane from 2005 to 2015, during which time he was a Minister in the Coalition Government.

He said Mr Amos deserved to be the area’s next MP, adding: “He’s diligent, conscientious, and hard working.

“I’m very enthusiastically supporting Gideon in his efforts to represent Taunton and Wellington in the House of Commons.”

Mr Amos thanked Mr Browne for coming down from London to lend his support to the Lib Dem campaign.

“Jeremy was an outstanding local MP and I’m looking forward to following his footsteps by winning the seat back for the Liberal Democrats.”
